This is the first basketball game I have played in along time that was user friendly but does not lose complexity in game features. EA sports were always going to make a real basketball game and blow away the competition just like they blew away Knowkout Kings with Fight Night.

Customer Review: Best NBA Live yet!
Firstly i’d like to just say that everyone should totally ignore the review below as its total rubbish! The players are very capeable of making long 2’s and 3 point shots, its just knowing the technique of how to do it. As for getting called for fouls in mid shot, that would be because your using the square button to do a lay up shot from too longer distance, and you are getting called for charges. And what’s the point of rating the game on a demo version anways?

I’ve got the say i’m very impressed with this offering from EA Sports. The graphics are superb, and the gameplay is excellent with fast and fluid action. The controls are simple and its easy to pick up to play. I’m already finding it very addictive and can see its going to have a long life span, especially playing the Dynasty mode!

One part I personally find slightly irrating is that the commentary is slightly repatitative. The other is that sometimes after a shot is scored, and you in bound the ball again, there is a slight slow down in frame rate. Although very minor it is sometimes annoying.

All in all though I do reccommend this, especially if you are a basketball fan!

Customer Review: Amazing little remote
This thing is fantastic. I returned the OEM remote the same day I got this from Amazon. Does everything the OEM does plus it’s IR so it works with my Harmony remote. The usb dongle is small, you can barely see it when plugged into the 40GB PS3. I was skeptical at first I am really thrilled with this remote. People say that it doesn’t turn on the power which is true, but I find that I just plug in the dongle and turn on the power whenever I insert a movie. Get this item, you won’t be disappointed.
Customer Review: Programmable with Harmony Remote
According to my husband: Great remote, especially for those who have LG Harmony Remotes and wants simplicity. The only downside to it is that the Blu Wave Remote does not turn on the PS3; there is no power on button. Unfortunatley you would still have to use the regular PS3 Bluray remote to turn on the system. Because the power on feature is not on the Blu Wave Remote, there is no way to program that into a Harmony either. We have the Harmony 1000 and the RF extender, so it works great for us.

Customer Review: Ok but room for improvement
I got my first one of these at Christmas time. It lasted about 1 month before the speaker stopped working so I couldn’t hear anything. I am now on my second headset.

The headset can also interfere with the controller for the ps3‘>ps3 and you have to reset the system and get everything connected again. When everything works it works well. The battery life is about 4,5 hours and the sound clarity is pretty good.

I would recommend this product but there is a chance you might have one or two technical problems from time to time.
Customer Review: Does the job but could be much better
Setting up is a breeze and the earpiece is comfortable to wear but there is a lot of crackle and static. This interference happened whether I was close to the PS3 console or not. Also annoying is the fact that you have to wait for the other person to finish talking before you start.
At the end of the day, the thing works, battery life is very good and it is user friendly but the interference takes the shine off.

IF your one of the people like me, who haven’t yet managed to buy a hi-def tv but have the ps3‘>ps3, then please do your ps3‘>ps3 justice and buy this cabel. This cabel splits the analogue video signal into chrominance (Colour) and luminance (Light), resulting in a better picture, well obviously not as good as the HDMI cabel, but much much better then the original cabel that is supplied with the PS3. It also gives an Audio L and R cabel for sound aswell. so if you dont have a HD Tv, then please buy this. You will definately see the difference.

In a nutshell:
After a successful tour of duty on the current gen consoles Brothers in Arms returns in the ultimate WWII squad based shooter, set during the closing months of the war as you take part in the crucial Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands.

The lowdown:
Although there were many astonishing looking games at the recent E3 event this was for most people the most graphically amazing next gen game seen so far. The levels not only look near photorealistic but the game world is huge and almost completely interactive. The gameplay works in the same basic way as before, with an easy to use onscreen cursor enabling you to direct your men with a single button press. New movement types now exist though, allowing you to specify stealth or patrol postures depending on what you’re doing and how fast you need to move. The only problem is the enemy have the same abilities and their artificial intelligence is advanced enough to make proper use of them.

Most exciting moment:
Not only are the enemy intelligent but they’re also well trained, reacting just as a real German soldier would. They’ll hide in doorways, ambush at road junctions and even, in one memorable encounter, hide behind a washing line – where your only warning is from a Dutch civilian at a window above.

Since you ask:
Everything in the game is as realistic as possible with streets and house copied exactly from photos taken at the time, while all weapons and vehicles are modelled to work exactly as they did in real life.

The bottom line:
The most realistic WWII game ever – in terms of history, tactics and graphics.

I orderd this as I was getting fed up with using the text mode on my PS3. Unfortunately it was faulty when it arrived and there was no power to the keyboard. It also did not look like it was worth ?20.
A prime example of a cheap bit of kit that was priced high for the gaming industry. If it was not for the PS3 this would be about ?10 tops and it would be worth that.
I didnt want a replacement so Amazon refunded me with no trouble at all.

This little keyboard works just fine with both my PS3 and my Wii. It’s mildly annoying that it doesn’t work with bluteooth, meaning that my 40gb PS3 has only one spare usb port, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that its light, easy to use and most importantly, plug-and-play!

Another fantastic Ratchet and Clank game, I loved it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and this is reflected in how much fun you have in this game. The use of the six axis controller is quite good, the graphics are fantastic and flawless the game is varied enough to keep you going to the very end. Great game…. now where is the the next one??

Customer Review: Fantastic, PS3 owners should play this.
Tools Of Destruction is the latest offering of a series started out on PS2, with Ratchet, a brash Lombax and Clank, a wise robot. Whilst it may appear ‘kiddy’, like Legend Of Zelda it has appeal for all ages. It begins in the series signiture setting of Metropolis where it is under attack by “Killer Robotic Commandos” and things set off from there.

The controls are smooth and easy to get used to, with a hotkey selection system for weapons, gadgets and combat devices. Combat devices can give you an edge in battle, most noteworthy is the Groovitron that forces enemies to dance whilst you blow them to bits (Every enemy has a different dance, and is worth watching!). Other combat devices exist, but onto the weapons, the portfolio is diverse and it’ll take a while to fully upgrade them; some include a Tornado Launcher which is guided by the PS3 motion controls and an electric whip, fun for the whole family!

The platforming gradually lowered in each installment on PS2, but thankfully it’s back in style and fun. It’s easy to see what you have to do and how to time things so it is not an exercise in frustration. The puzzles are good too and not too difficult, they use the motion controls here too to provide interesting gameplay.

The game length itself isn’t too big if you want to simply blaze through, it’ll take you several full days to do so, but as if many other games by Insomniac the full fun comes in unlocking all the Skill Points and Challenge Mode. They give you various extras such as concept art, extra costumes, and even an extensive developer commentary by member of Insomniac Games, which is interesting. There is even parts of a weapon that are scattred across the levels, collect them all to get the ultimate weapon in the game.

In short this game is great fun, and will last you ages. Great for kids and adults alike, especially if you are gonna start out your PS3 collection. Highly recommended.

I wasted about 4 hours trying to make sure everything was hooked up right after my new PS3 wasn’t displaying on the screen. I Google’d, Amazon’ed, and PS3Forum’ed for hours. Finally, I thought, “eh try a different cable”. Son of a gun! This cable was the culprit. I knew it was too good to be true. $18.99 for a good -looking, and working, HDMI cable…I think not.

I’ve never used an HDMI cable before so I can’t compare the quality to the more expensive cables out there. However, this HDMI cable works perfectly for its purpose. I was curious about the hype - all the online reviews said your PS3’s true potential will be unleashed using HDMI. The reviews were right, HDMI rocks. Instantly increases visual clarity and sharpness from your PS3 to flat-screen. The audio sounds louder and more crisp as well. DVDs and Blu-Ray are 1000x better as well. Don’t stick with your PS3’s A/V cables… they’re as antiquated as dial-up Internet or rotary phones. HDMI is the only way to go. The difference is comparable to being punched in the eyeballs making everything blurry (A/V cable) to having Lasik surgery and everything being crystal clear (HDMI).

I’m not usually the kind of person that would buy a basketball related game but, on one Saturday afternoon I did and I haven’t regretted it.

I’ll concentrate on the gameplay more than anything else because I think we can all accept that the graphics of practically all games these days is top notch.

The menus are easy to navigate, exhibition games are easy to set up and there are four difficulty levels ranging from Rookie to All-Star to keep you interested in the longterm. So far I’m a few games into a league and I’ve had a few friends over to take advantage of the four player game options. So far I’ve had no problems with either.

The only thing I found a bit confusing was identifying the abilities of the teams. Not being familiar with basketball teams it took me a little while to figure out that the teams with the lowest numbers were the best as opposed to the usual highest numbers being best.

Once you’re in the game the player controls are easy to get to grips with and the games are just as fast and frenetic as the real thing. Even the dribbling tricks and tactics are easy to pull off and set up respectively. The commentary is also effective in providing some added atmosphere and hasn’t yet become annoying unlike some of the commentary on the EA Sports sims.

All round it’s a solid game that has well rendered graphics and is really playable. I don’t often write game reviews but this one deserves some attention. I’ll recommend this game highly to both fans of the sport and those looking for something different. 5 Stars

TIP: Watch the timing of your tackles or you’ll give away ‘reach in fouls’ which your opposition will score from for fun.

Customer Review: This is the version to get
In the interest of time and space this review will be about this specific version and not the game itself, as there are already reviews for that. Really, the only question here is: are the $20 extra worth it? Cosmetics aside (which alone are worth it for the collector), you’re getting 2 extra discs, one with 4 episodes of the animated series — which are mandatory by the way, but mileage varies greatly apparently — along with some extras, and a second disc with an art gallery, soundtrack, making of DMC, etc. So my reasoning goes like this: The anime can be purchased separately for 30 dollars, or you can get it here for 20 dollars along with a bunch of bonus content. This is a game that you’ll revisit down the line, and you’ll be glad you bought the limited edition in time. And even if you do plan to sell it someday, it will be worth more than the regular version and you’ll still have gotten a deal on all the extras, especially the anime.

Customer Review: Be warned
This product is not quite what it claims to be. If, by universal, they mean universal to next-gen consoles, that’s fine. However, this product does not work with the original Xbox or the Gamecube. I’m using it for my Playstation 3 and it looks great. Way better than getting the expensive Sony Brand. It works alright on the PS2 but I didn’t see too much of a difference between This and the S-Video on that system. If you are using this on a PS3, Xbox 360 or a Wii, I definitely recommend.

Works well with PS2. But, there seems to be a problem with Wii as the video is black and white.

Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
In a nutshell:
A new Final Fantasy game was always going to be a given for the PlayStation 3 but the teaser trailer shown by Square Enix at E3 shows that work on the new game is far more advanced, and far more impressive, than previously thought.

The lowdown:
Through careful study of the trailer and the few pieces of information Square Enix have left slip it’s revealed that the new game is set across several different time periods, with each episode of the story starring a different cast of characters. The trailer showed a very futuristic looking world as well as some lush looking forest environments. How much of what was seen is actual real-time PlayStation 3 graphics is unclear, but the fact that it’s so difficult to tell which is which speaks volumes about the game’s quality. The only other fact known about the game is that, despite some rumours to the contrary, it does not feature an online mode.

Most exciting moment:
Getting a glimpse of the all new combat system which seems to suggest a new, more action orientated, direction for the blockbusting series.

Since you ask:
Two spin-offs of the game are already planned, one called Final Fantasy Versus XIII for the PS3 and the other called Final Fantasy Agito XIII for mobile phones.

The bottom line:
A milestone in the history of the world’s most famous role-playing game series.

People can say what they want about the graphics in this game. Theyre right, if you play call of duty 4 right before popping this in youre not gonna like it. But if you actually play the game you realize just how awesome it is. Sound effects that make the hairs on your neck stand up, and gameplay that makes you not want to put the controller down. The story behind it could be compared to like The Ring mixed with Resident Evil but twice as scary as both. I played this whole game alone in the dark and it freaked me out. My little brother even refused to play it cuz he was too scared lol. Bottom line, pick it up if you like suspense you wont be disappointed.

I am extremely happy with this keyboard. For the little amount of internet browsing I do on my PS3, this is more than worth it. I usually just use it for messaging between me and my friends, and that is more than enough. Really good product for the price. If you absolutely must have all functions of your PS3 available through a key board, then this is not for you. But if you just want to be able to type faster, pick it up.

This is a great game to play and you never seem to get bored of it because theres always something you haven’t tried yet. Everyone has their own personalised moves and if you make your own fighter, you can just choose the best moves. A let down is even on easy, your opponent can just constantly reverse your moves and you start to get really annoyed. Overall the game is OK but they could have done better.

Compliment: The addition of ECW was huge and adds a fun dimension to general manager mode. The game does a good job of rendering the facial features of the bigger superstars and the ECW extreme rules match is alot of fun.

Criticism: (ger ready for an earful)
- The game retains the unfuriatingly amateurish glitches from most of the previous games of the series (i.e you can’t use the whole roster in season mode, reversals happen way too often on any level over easy, and the reversals are often for moves that you didn’t actually attempt
- The Season modes are ridden with little things that make the game almost unplayable. The ability to determine what your superstar(s) do on days off sounds like an intersting thing on papaer but doing EVERY day all year (especially in GM mode) gets repetitive. What really bugged me was the fact that at certain points throughout the game in season mode (as a superstar) you will be prompted to make various decisions and almost inevitably your “choice” will be ignored and the game will simply procede down one story path or another without reference to what you wanted
- The create features again fall flat on their face. Created superstars look much more like cartoons than the real WWE roster, created titles are in the same boat, and when you bother to create an advanced entrance for a superstar the game essentially ignores it.

Compliment: DOn’t worry boys you’ll get’em next year

Customer Review: Biggest Disapointment of the Year!!!
I’m writing this as a review of the US version as the UK version release date has yet to be announced (6+ Months after the US version came out!!!!).

You’ve proberbly read all the positive comments about this game but let me tell you the truth. Let me tell you why this game is not going to be worth buying.

Firstly Rockband 2 will be announced shortly. The US has had this game for over 7 months. Since the average sequel takes 1 1/2 years to come out and the average sequel is announced 6 months before it’s release date. It is fair to say that by the time Rockband 1 comes out over here Rockband 2 will be released within a few months.

Secondly, this game only has 40 tracks on it. It is designed so that you have to buy downloadable tracks at around ?1-2 a track. Guitar Hero has 70+ tracks per game. To get 70+ tracks on Rockband you will pay ?30-60 on top of the actual game (which is expected to be around the ?150 mark). You could say it is a bit of a con!

Thirdly, you could spend lots of money on content and when Rockband 2 comes out you will have to buy it again, because it may not be compatible.

The graphics are not that good. They have an enhanced PS2 look. They are nowhere near the quality of Guitar Hero 3.

You can design your own rockstar… sounds good… until you realise with all the displays on the screen you cant see hardly anything. It really defeats the point and is a total waste of a charector creator.

You can create a band… but if there is only you playing.. you will only see the charector you created. So if you wanted a punk band look - only your charector would look “punk”. The other band members would just be random.

The guitar/drum note display is not as easy to see as the Guitar Hero franchise. It can get very frustrating on the harder settings.

The quality of the instruments are very poor. There are hundreds of reports of the instruments breaking and them having to be replaced. Rumours are that the UK delay is due to EA having to make additional instruments to satisfy all the US customers with broken ones. Does’nt bode well for the UK.

Dont waste your hard earned cash on this. If you really must play it. Rent it or buy it secondhand.

Customer Review: AWSOME
I got this game from the US and it’s amazing from more realistic than Guitar Hero for loads of reasons, 1 you can make play sets 2 customize your characters and of course there’s the team/ band play for 1 goal. The Online play seems good too with a few different options that seem to work well. The Only Thing I’m not to sure on is, how well made the guitars are, there not the same build quality as the guitar hero guitars and `overdrive’ (star power) does seem to deploy when you want it to always.

All in all tho prob the best game EVER!!!

Ratatouille (PS3) Customer Review: Sound problems with the rats voices.
Our 9 year old son must be enjoying this game as he would be on it constantly if we allowed him to be. My main reason for writing this review is to let others know that initially we could not hear the rats speaking and this was down to having the PS3 connected up to a surround sound amp. with an optical lead. When playing this game I have to change the audio settings within the PS3 to send the sound via the phono leads and change it back to output the sound via the optical lead for all other games. I have heard that some other users have had the same issue.
Customer Review: Fun but frustrating in places
I bought this Game for my girlfriend who enjoyed the film very much. The initial outlook was good, but we soon found a few things that made us a little annoyed.

The first thing that struck us was there was no option to save the game when you wanted, and you were forced to play for a large amount of time before it saves. As each level is composed of a number of sub-missions, having to do initially all of them in one sitting was very frustrating. Later on in the game it gets better but it would have been far more user friendly, if it saved more regularly right from the outset. This is made worse with the inventive but rather difficult use of the Sixaxis controller in certain areas of the game. This all amounted to us concluding that the developers lost sight of their target audience.

Secondly, at various points in the game you will get stuck. One example of this was in the City Of Lights area when chasing Gusteau you have to balance on a rope which it is very hard to jump on to. If you fail (and fall to your death) you have to start again at ground level and work your way up only to fall of again. Several times you simply pass through the rope as if it wasn’t there (despite pressing the O button (PS3) to balance). It’s handy to have a patient player nearby for some of the trickier bits in the game, but I think a lot of people will be put off by the sudden change from simple accesible gameplay to extremely frustrating and difficult gameplay and vice versa.

Thirdly, very often you get advice from Gusteau about how to proceed. Unfortunately, you assume what you are being told is relevant to the next puzzle you need to solve. This is not necessarily true. When you attempt the mission to improve the soup you get bombarded with suggestions about using the egg timer. This comes in useful in one part of the level, but towards the end you actually need to find a way to the top shelf and that has nothing to do with the egg timer. This doesn’t stop Gusteau from suggesting you use it.

Graphics, character voices (done by the actors from the film) and sound are good throughout. Also some of the mini games are quite good fun. Remy is also quite a lovable character (despite being a rat).

I would wait until it comes down in price, or rent it, before buying at full price. It has initial appeal but I don’t think it will have any longevity for most people (including younger children).

Customer Review: Good keyboard for PS3 as well as other Bluetooth PC/laptops
Well, this is a good Bluetooth keyboard designed for your PS3 but also works pretty ok with a Bluetooth enabled laptop/pc etc. I often connect my Vaio laptop to the TV to watch online channels hence I needed one to be able to use it from my sofa, and as I also have a PS3, bought this one from the US on my way back to London. It works ok with my laptop as well as the PS3 hence no problems there. Response time is good however sometimes you need to wait a few seconds for the keyboard to re-establish the connection if you keep it on but don’t use for a long time. On the other hand I have never experienced a serious problem with its connection either with the laptop or PS3. This is an important point as I have had issues with some other Bluetooth keyboards I have tried before buying this one. Especially heard a few bitter stories about other Bluetooth keyboards that wont connect with PS3. Good improvement from the previous version is that you don’t need a dongle hence save a USB plug for other accessories. When you turn it on it connects automatically to the latest gadget you have used it with which is also nice and non-problematic. It is pretty stylish as well and fits well with the PS3 though could have been a bit smaller for living room use in my view. A bit chunky if you are going to use it while lying down in your sofa. Keys are well sized (no Windows or PS key though) and touchpad works also ok. Overall a good keyboard and most importantly Bluetooth connection works well with different gadgets.

To be frank, you need to ask yourself the question if you really need a keyboard only for the PS3 (assuming you are using it just for gaming, media and internet, i.e. no Linux etc). For messaging and internet a thumbpad (which I also own. see my review if you are considering one) might be ok, hence, have a look at it as well. Dont forget, this keyboard lacks some crucial specs for surfing with PS3 (like zooming) hence a thumbpad add-on to your controller might be a better idea. But if you are also going to use it with another laptop/pc, it is a great and stylish keyboard that wont dissappoint you at all apart maybe from its size.
