Blacksite: Area 51 (PS3)
If the U.S. Army ever does come into possession of a crashed UFO then the very worst place to hide it would be Area 51 - considering that’s exactly the first place everyone would think to look for it. If real aliens are anything like the ones in this follow-up to the 2005 hit though they’re better off kept a secret. Like the last game this is a first person shoot `em-up with no pretentions about complex storytelling or realism, just the ability to fight lots and lots of bug-eyed monsters. It turns out they’ve escaped from the titular army base and you’re cast as a Special Forces soldier sent to invade their space.
Thankfully you’re not sent in alone and you have full control over a squad of ally soldiers, as you order them around by sending them to specific areas or telling them to target a particular bad guy. Each soldier will have their own level of morale, where doing badly makes them poorer shots and eventually convinces them to make a run for it. Thankfully the opposite is true if they’re feeling confident though. You’ll also be able to hitch a lift on various vehicles, from jeeps to helicopters, for one of a number of fun on-the-rails shooting sections. The game also comes with a wide range of online multiplayer, including a co-operative mode for two people. If there really are any aliens in Area 51 one then this should convince them to stay exactly where they are.

Customer Review: Could have been great but it isn’t.
I had been looking forward to this game for quite a while. I’m a big fan of FPS but this didn’t make the grade.
On the upside the graphics and sound are pretty good.
Now the downsides.
Buggy as hell.
Crappy framerate - becomes very annoying.
Load times are crap. You could be zipping alond in a vehicle (very poor vehicle controls too) when all of a sudden the game will freeze as it loads the next part.
Campaign is completely yawn inducing. What exciitement there is is ruined by shoddy contorls.
Eg. You’re shooting a bad guy in the head. You can see quite clearly that you are, but for some reason the hits don’t register. Poor.
All in all I wish I hadn’t bought it. Definitley not an essential purchase.
Customer Review: Shoddy in the extreme
Most will know about the in house problems associated with this game and it shows. It’s the most bug ridden game I’ve ever played on any console and takes me back to the C64 and Vic 20 days (load error?!). It’s an absolute disgrace that this has been released in it’s current state. Tearing, appalling frame rate, slowdown, frequent crashes. Midway obviously just need to recoup back some of the development costs. The great shame is that there IS a great game buried inside (the alien on the bridge sequence was inspired)which makes it even more upsetting. Don’t think Haze or Resisitance 2 have anything to fear. All in all an Ok laugh but not at 40 notes. A bloody shame. Oh and the campaign can be finished in about four hours which is short by anyones standards. Not a great advertisment for next gen gaming.

Customer Review: worth buying in time for the playtv
i have jus put an order on this item as i plan to purchase the playtv the minute it comes out, actually… make that seconds! the playtv sounds awesome and i don’t wanna be fiddling about with the sixaxis controller when i’m watching telly. plus i’ve ordered it now to prevent having to see ‘temporarily out of stock’ sign on the product when the playtv is out. i’ve finally purchase the eye camera from dabs where i found it along with eye of judgment having waited such a long time for this site and others to have it available but to no avail. so i browsed many sites for eye of judgement which includes the free eye camera and i think i can download eyecreate from the online shop for free, not sure yet though. but yea it was the cheapest at dabs and i’m not sure if i am gonna play the eye of judgment game because it’s not my type of game but i’m not gonna knock it till i’ve tried it. the reason why i bought the eye camera was for the call of duty game, which is brilliant no doubt. and the reason why i’m mentioning the eye camera on this blu-ray remote control is to to advise people that the stock of this product may be limited due to the release of playtv. it would most probably be an essential product, not jus flicking through channels or hoppin lol but you may find it good use when watching a blu-ray or normal dvds, maybe when your girlfriend comes around or if you’re gay your boyfriend and if you’re a girl gamer your boyfriend or your girlfriend, whose to say? lol anyways i think i’ve just wrote the the fifth testament, so that’s enough from me, i’m out. take care…
Customer Review: Does What It Say’s On The Tin!
The blue ray remote is essential if you wish to use the console for anything other than games.
Such as Blue Ray movies, DVD’s, CD’s and if you use it to stream media form your computer as I do.
It is very well built and the buttons are well laid out.
May not be the most exciting item Sony have made but I highly recommend it.
